Coaches Code of Conduct

Thank you for volunteering to coach with the Somerset Youth Hockey Association (SYHA). Our coaches play a vital role in creating a positive, safe, and rewarding experience for every player. We ask that all coaches review the Coaches Code of Conduct before the start of the season and commit to upholding these expectations throughout the year.

The Coaches Code of Conduct outlines the standards for sportsmanship, player development, respect, safety, communication, and professionalism expected of all SYHA coaches. By following these guidelines, we help ensure that every athlete has the opportunity to learn, grow, and enjoy the game in a supportive environment.

All coaches are expected to:

• Review the Coaches Code of Conduct in its entirety before participating in any SYHA activities.
• Follow all SYHA, WAHA, and USA Hockey rules, policies, and SafeSport requirements.
• Promote good sportsmanship, teamwork, respect, and player development.
• Provide a safe, inclusive, and positive environment for all players.
• Serve as positive role models both on and off the ice.
